Computer Section

    • To plan, develop and implement computerisation system for Labour Department

    • To provide technical assistance to all Labour staff in using IT

    • To monitor and maintain the existing Labour's computer systems

Labour Licensing & Work Permit Section

    • To issue labour licenses and letter of approval for employers who wish to employ foreign workers

    • To recommend employers' applications for work permit (excluding domestic helpers) to the Immigration Department

    • To support and compliment employment section in scrutinising vacancies which are suitable for local job seekers' employment

Domestic Helper (Housemaid) Section

    • To issue housemaid licenses to individuals who wish to employ housemaid. The work permit is processed and issued by the Immigration Department

Law Enforcement Section

    • To conduct necessary inspections on companies that wish to obtain licenses to employ foreign workers

    • To keep a constant watch to companies so as to ensure they are complying with the provisions of Brunei Labour Laws such as employment contract, working conditions, working hours, health and safety, and etc

    • To take proper action to those companies violating the provision of Brunei Labour Laws

Workmen's Compensation, Health and Safety Section

    • To ensure employees are given proper accommodation in respect of safety and health

    • To ensure the victim of industrial accidents and industrial deaths, the victims' families are adequately compensated as stated by the Workmen's Compensation Act

Industrial Relations Section

    • Receive and settle any industrial disputes that arise between employers and their employees

    • Undertake and promote consultative and collective bargaining within the industry

Employment Section

    • To register local job seekers throughout the country in assisting them to find suitable jobs

    • To collect information of job vacancies from both private and public sectors

    • To conduct continuous negotiations regarding employment opportunities for the locals in the private sector
